General Labor
Performs semi-skilled and general labor, maintenance and repair work for the City of Longview, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Examples of DutiesPerforms basic equipment operation and labor tasks in order to dispose of bulky waste and/or maintain streets, roadway, water and sewer systems, infrastructure, parks, grounds and facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment. Performs basic and semiskilled construction, maintenance and general labor work within scope of authority and training, and in accordance with all City safety regulations and procedures.
Operates hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on vehicles and equipment. Completes required daily logs and reports. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports safety hazards and equipment problems; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Performs tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies.
Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
High School diploma or GED equivalent, and one year of basic maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License;
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
