Assistant Controller

This position serves as the operational and strategic leader of the corporate finance department for a stable, long-standing organization. As the Assistant Controller, you will take full ownership of the general ledger, independently prepare monthly and annual financial statements, and manage the end-to-end month-end and year-end close processes. Based on-site at the Longview, Washington office, this role balances high-level reporting with hands‑on team leadership, offering immense stability within a supportive, family‑oriented culture.

You will directly supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions while serving as a key advisor to executive leadership on financial reporting and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Statement Preparation: Independently prepare comprehensive monthly and annual financial statements for executive review.
- General Ledger & Close Management: Oversee the general ledger and manage the full cycle of month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Team Supervision: Direct, support, and mentor the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll personnel.
- Payroll & Reporting Integrity: Review payroll journal entries and ensure strict accuracy across all operational financial reporting.
- Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for annual corporate audits and collaborate closely with external auditors.
- Internal Controls: Maintain, review, and enhance internal control frameworks to support continuous process improvements.
- Executive Partnership: Partner directly with executive leadership on specialized financial reporting, budgeting, and operational initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; an active CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience independently preparing full-set financial statements.
- Previous accounting leadership, supervisory, or department management experience.
- Deep technical understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and full-cycle corporate accounting.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills with a track record of supporting a collaborative team environment.
- Advanced organizational abilities to balance standard closing cycles with strategic executive projects.
