Behavior Technician

Job Description

We are looking for curious, passionate, and ethical BTs to provide one-on-one special education to our students with special needs. Our team values empathy, respect, creativity, and nerdiness to the core. Responsibilities
  • Provide direct student care in one-on-one and group formats.
  • Implement skill development strategies.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable student behavior.
  • Deliver teaching trials and apply prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Follow Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) and use safety care (physical management) as needed.
  • Communicate student events to teachers/BCBAs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation.
  • Prepare meals and snacks for students.
  • Deliver medication and administer food handler’s card.
  • Support lead technicians with indirect tasks such as assessments and goal drafts.
  • Assist teachers and BCBAs with assessments and goal drafting.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility.
  • Drive company vehicles as required.
  • Collaborate with treatment team, including students, parents, caregivers, outside professionals, lead behavioral technicians, behavior specialists, and coworkers.
  • Adhere to safety procedures when working with students and use appropriate physical responses to manage active or aggressive students.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and dignity.
  • Attend required training and maintain technical knowledge.

Education Requirements
  • GED or High School Diploma.
Experience Preferences
  • History of working with children K-12.
  • History of working with individuals with severe behavior.
Physical Requirements
  • Assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods.
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, walk, balance, lift 50 pounds, push or pull 50 pounds, carry 50 lbs, grasp, reach, handle, stoop, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste, and smell regularly.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical response skills including running, walking for a minimum of 5 minutes, escorting a student for a minimum of 5 minutes, climbing a six-foot fence.
  • Ability to perform approved escorts, holds, and restraints to maintain safety.
Other Requirements
  • Criminal background clearance or formal exception.
  • Valid/Active driver’s license with a clean driving record and verified auto insurance.
Equipment Used
  • Children’s toys and educational materials.
  • Office equipment including copy machine, laptop, iPad, and phone.
  • Hand tools including hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and painting supplies.
  • Kitchen appliances including oven, air fryer, and dishwasher.
  • Cleaning equipment including mop, vacuum, and handhelds.
Working Environment
  • Noise conditions: moderate and occasional loud noise from students, toys, and normal school equipment.
  • Heat/cold: may be subject to heat, cold, wet, and/or humid weather conditions, including five or more minutes in extreme heat, cold, or wet weather conditions.
  • Injury exposure: position requires physical activity and occasionally physical management of a student.
