ELEMENTARY MATH COACH - ST. HELENS
1.0 FTE for the 2026-27 School Year

SUPERVISOR:
Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree or post-graduate work in Elementary Math or other related field preferred.
2. Valid Washington State teaching certificate with endorsement in Elementary Education (K-8)
3. Minimum five years recent successful teaching.
4. Demonstrated understanding of research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction.
5. Recent successful experience working with educators in demonstrating and modeling effective instructional strategies and assessment practices.
6. Demonstrated understanding of Washington State Math Standards.
7. Demonstrated experience and or training with core and supplemental math intervention materials.
8.
Experience with district math curriculum.
9. Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks.
10. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationship with students, teachers, school administrators, support personnel, and community members.
11. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
12. Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff and district patrons.
13. Evidence/demonstration of use of technology to enhance student learning or willingness to learn.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Function as the math leader in the building.
2. Support/coach teachers in their implementation of the core and supplemental curriculum.
Srengthen the connection between core and intervention instruction.
3. Model and coach in individual classrooms using district-adopted curriculum, strategies for diverse learners and technology as a tool to enhance learning..
4. Collaborate with district coach as to provide building support, such as professional development activities, including peer teaching/coaching, studios, workshops, study groups and other types of informal mentoring.
5. Collaborate with principal and teachers in school improvement that stimulates sustained systemic change and improvement.
6. Attend and support math PLCs and the PLC process.
7. Coordinate assessment as assigned.
8. Analyze student performance data and develop instructional improvement plans based on data.
9. Facilitate systems to maintain appropriate student records, including assessment data and current levels of academic functioning in the regular education program.
10. Collaborate as a member of site leadership team or site problem-solving team to assess, develop interventions and provide services for students and/or families to meet student individual needs.
11. Participate in teacher meetings and special projects.
12. Demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility, self-confidence and dedication.
13. Other related duties as assigned by the building principal.
WORKING CONDITIONS /
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. May be required to travel between buildings and occasionally attend workshops and conferences with the region or state.
2. Required to work flexible hours and schedule which may include some evenings. Expected to prepare classroom for the start of school and prepare workspace or room for summer cleaning after the last day of school.
3. Classroom/office environment which includes frequently walking, occasional lifting, and bending, stooping, kneeling and keyboarding.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Contract Term: 180 days; 3 professional development days; 19 mandatory hours
Salary:
Based on the 2026-27 LEA salary schedule. Additional compensation based on Longview Education Association Agreement with the Longview School District.
