Position: Special Education Job Coach/Para educator (2026-27 SY)

Special Education Job Coach / Para educator

Reporting directly to the Special Education Teacher, the Special Education Job Coach provides training and support for students to ensure success during work experiences. The Coach assists the Teacher to secure job placements, analyze and modify job tasks, provide employability skills instruction, conduct student observations and assessments, and work collaboratively with worksite employees.

Reporting directly to the Special Education Teacher, the Special Education Para educator supports students with disabilities in various school settings. The Para educator assists the Teacher with lesson plan preparation, one‑on‑one and small group instruction, classroom management, student observation and assessment, and communication with parents and staff.

Salary

The full salary range for this position is $21.27 - $26.31 per hour
.

Assignment / Location

We are recruiting for two Special Education Job Coach/Paraeducators to serve our STEPS program in Longview, WA. These positions will start August 2026.

Regular Attendance

This role relies on regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive, productive learning environment.

Essential Functions – Special Education Job Coach
  • Assist the Special Education Teacher, consistent with IEP goals and transition plans to secure job placements.
  • Provide instruction of employability skills.
  • Conduct student observation and assessment.
  • Coach students on vocational and on‑the‑job skills to enhance readiness for employment.
  • Analyze and modify job tasks to student skill level.
  • Supervise students.
  • Transport students to community work sites.
  • Observe students, collect data and report student progress.
  • Maintain accurate data collection records.
  • Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in‑service programs, workshops and seminars.
  • Participate as a member of the education team and may attend parent conferences.

  • Provide positive behavior management support, consistent with the IEP or IFSP.
  • Attend to the physical needs of students, including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in‑service programs, workshops and seminars.
  • Participate as a member of the education team and may attend parent conferences.
  • Other Functions
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet one of the following educational requirements:
    • Associate's Degree
    • 48 semester or 72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university
    • Passing score of 455 on the Para Pro Assessment
    • Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment
    • 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Para educator Online Training Program
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a special education classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.
  • Working Conditions /

    Physical Requirements
  • Classroom setting, may move from classroom to classroom to provide services.
  • Worksite environment, may move from area to area to provide services.
  • Provide assistance and attend to the physical needs of students including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs, including but not limited to: tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting.
  • Regular attendance during assigned work schedule.
  • Travel within ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Employment Requirements
  • Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  • Within three years of employment meet Washington State Core Competencies for para educators as defined in WAC
    392-172A-02090(f).
