Position: STEPS Transition Program Work-Site Coordinator - INTERNAL ONLY

Transition Program Work-Site Coordinator

Reporting directly to the Special Education Teacher/Assistant Director of Special Education, the Transition Program Work-Site Coordinator supports STEPS students in developing employment, independent living, and career readiness skills through community-based work experiences. The coordinator collaborates with students, families, employers, educators, and community agencies to identify, develop, and monitor work-site placements that align with students' transition goals.

Salary:
The full salary range for this position is $23.95 - $29.14 per hour. Offers are made at the beginning of the range. Assignment/

Location:

This position is 33.75 hrs/wk, school year schedule. It is open to internal applicants only. This position will close on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

This role relies on regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive, productive learning environment.

  • Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to create work-based learning opportunities for students. Serve as a liaison between employers, students, families, and school personnel to address concerns and promote successful employment experiences.
  • Coordinate student work-site placements, transportation, schedules and logistics based on individual transition goals, interests, and abilities.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor student progress, provide coaching, and ensure workplace success.
  • Train and support students in workplace expectations, employability skills, job-seeking skills, resume development, interview preparation and professional behavior.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, teachers, students, and families to support student transition plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student participation, attendance, performance, workplace accommodations and all worksite activities
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, workplace safety standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Provide ongoing training and coaching to job coaches on effective instructional techniques, data collection, behavior support, workplace safety, and fostering student independence in community-based work settings
  • Coordinate job coach assignments and schedules to meet student needs and maximize successful work-site experiences
  • Monitor job coach performance and provide feedback to ensure quality services and compliance with ESD
    112/district policies and STEPS program requirements.
  • Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Other Functions:

  • Participate in ESD professional development meetings and trainings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, Career and Technical Education, Rehabilitation Services or related field.
  • Experience with high school-aged youth, individuals with disabilities, or workforce development programs.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of transition services, employment readiness and workplace expectations.
  • Working Conditions:

  • Frequent travel to community work sites.
  • Combination of office, classroom and community-based work environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move between work sites for extended periods.
  • Provide assistance and attend to the physical needs of students including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs, including but not limited to: tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting

  • Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
