Reports to:
VP of Health & Safety
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within industrial, construction, or environmental sectors.
- Strong background in high-voltage or electrical safety, including experience in powerline work, dams, hydroelectric facilities, substations, or similar energized environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable safety and regulatory standards, including OSHA, WISHA, MSHA, EPA, NFPA 70E, and NESC or equivalent electrical safety codes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage field crews, project managers, division leadership, and executive stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 75%, including overnight assignments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field (equivalent field experience considered).
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, or CHST (current or in progress preferred).
- OSHA Train-the-Trainer certification.
- MSHA instructor certification.
- Experience supporting safety operations during industrial or mill shutdowns.
Our client is a rapidly expanding, multi-division industrial services organization headquartered in the Pacific Northwest. With approximately 450 employees and $167M in annual revenue—and a projected trajectory exceeding $200M—the company has experienced significant growth since 2022 through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions.
They are seeking a Safety Supervisor to act as the dedicated safety liaison for their electrical operations, supporting two specialized divisions: an industrial and commercial electrical contracting group and a controls systems integration and power distribution testing team. These teams operate in high-risk, high-voltage environments across power generation facilities, industrial plants, and utility infrastructure throughout the Pacific Northwest.
This is a specialized safety role requiring deep expertise in high-voltage environments such as substations, hydroelectric facilities, powerlines, or industrial electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with energized work, arc flash hazards, and electrical testing environments, and will be eager to apply that expertise in a growing, field-driven organization with a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Safety Leadership (Primary Focus)- Serve as the primary safety representative for two electrical divisions, providing field-based support across multiple project sites.
- Lead new hire safety orientation and onboarding in collaboration with the HSE team.
- Facilitate monthly safety meetings for assigned divisions.
- Conduct field audits and inspections, document findings, and communicate corrective actions to leadership and crews.
- Develop and implement project-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs), including procedures for energized work, arc flash, and high-voltage testing.
- Act as safety coordinator during industrial mill shutdowns, managing workforce planning, shift safety meetings, pre-job planning, and equipment coordination.
- Lead incident investigations from initial response through root cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and support corrective action implementation.
- Coordinate return-to-work processes and support injured employees in partnership with risk and claims teams.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of OSHA, WISHA, MSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Ensure job sites and equipment comply with company policies and regulatory standards.
