The Assistant Director of Finance will manage the day-to-day accounting operations at Lower Columbia College. This includes overseeing key functions like revenue and expenditure analysis, funds disbursement, and risk management. You will ensure the accurate operation of the College’s automated ctcLink system, handling funds management accounting, general ledger reconciliations, cash management, and annual financial statement preparation in compliance with all regulations.
This position also supervises two full-time accounting staff.

Aboutthe team
Our Finance team consists of 12 full-time employees who are dedicated to supporting the mission of Lower Columbia College. We collaborate with faculty and staff across campus to ensure responsible financial management and to provide the resources needed for student success.
The Assistant Director position is exempt under FLSA. The typical schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The Assistant Director works primarily on campus with occasional flexibility to work remotely. This position reports to the Director of Finance. We typically hire closer to the lower to middle range of the salary. Offers are made based on applicant’s qualifications relative to the job, internal pay equity, and any other relevant factors.
- Manage accounting activities for the College consistent with the requirements of the Washington State Office of Financial Management (OFM), the federal government, and the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC);
- Supervise, direct, and monitor the work of designated college accounting staff, including assignment of tasks; providing guidance and professional development opportunities; establishing deadlines, work schedules, performance expectations; conducting performance evaluations; and cross-training of staff;
- Develop and recommend risk management processes and perform internal audits as directed by the Director and Finance or the Vice President for Administrative Services;
- Assist the Director of Finance with updating and implementing the College’s internal accounting policies, procedures, policy interpretation, compliance issues, and determining methods and procedures;
- Supervise timely preparation of status reports as related to programs and projects on a regular basis or as needed, to include budget and expenditures for all college funds, grants, contracts, and capital projects;
- Assist the Director of Finance with state audits and in the management and monitoring of timely accounting cycles, including daily, monthly, annual, and biennial closing and reports;
- Preparation of the College’s annual Financial Statements under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB); monitoring changes in GASB pronouncements and required reporting as they relate to the financial statements;
- Ensure the timely preparation for the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, including monthly vendor payment advances and long-term debt issues;
- Effectively use and train staff in the use of technology and software required to maintain accounts and document activity;
