Overview
Texas Oncology is searching for a Certified Medical Physicist to join our East Texas Physics POD (Longview/Tyler/Palestine). The Medical Physicist will be actively working with 4 other physicists and 6 dosimetrists in the region.

Equipment within the East Texas POD consists of 7 Varian linear accelerators (2 True Beam, 1 Halcyon, 4 2100 C-Series). The region also operates 2 active HDR programs via Nucletron afterloaders. Planning and verification systems include Eclipse, Brain Lab, Vari Seed, Oncentra, Aria, Radformation, and Rad Calc. Programs include SBRT, SRS, HDR, LDR, and radiopharmaceuticals. Texas Oncology also provides vendor webinars, its own journal club, and opportunities to serve on company-wide physics committees.
QualificationsThe candidate should have a MS or PhD degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two to five years’ experience in radiation oncology physics. The candidate should have a current A certification or be in the process of obtaining certification (completed part
1) and maintain a valid Texas state license for medical physics as required.
Preferred Experience:
- Working knowledge of Varian linear accelerators as well as Varian Vari Source/Bravos HDR afterloader
- Working knowledge of Eclipse and Brachy Vision
- Working knowledge of MOSAIQ Radiation Oncology Information System
- Working knowledge of HDR, SBRT and SRS procedures
- Working knowledge of Radiation safety
Duties will include:
- Full range of on-site clinical medical physics support at your primary clinic
The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
Master’s or PhD degree in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP accredited program;
Graduate from a CAMPEP accredited residency program; A board certification or in the process of obtaining certification;
Eligibility for a Texas license;
Strong organization and oral/written communication skills.

Must have the ability to utilize components of the treatment-planning computer including but not limited to the use of keyboards, digitizers, trackball and mouse controls.
Must be able to stand for 8 hours; lift 40 pounds to shoulder level; have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish structures and isodose displays on computer monitor. Additionally, must be able to align treatment field and monitor patient during radiation therapy treatment.
