Position: Certified Medical Physicist (MS or PhD) - Tyler/Longview

Overview

Texas Oncology is searching for a Certified Medical Physicist to join our East Texas Physics POD (Longview/Tyler/Palestine). The candidate will work alongside four physicists and six dosimetrists in the region, providing full‐range on‑site clinical medical physics support at your primary clinic.

Equipment

East Texas POD houses seven Varian Linacs (2 True Beam, 1 Halcyon, 4 2100 C‑Series) and operates two active HDR programs via Nucletron afterloaders. Planning and verification systems include Eclipse, Brain Lab, Vari Seed, Oncentra, Aria, Radformation and Rad Calc. Programs offered are SBRT, SRS, HDR, LDR and radiopharmaceuticals.

Responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of Varian linear accelerators and Varian Vari Source ravos HDR afterloader.
  • Proficiency with Eclipse, Brachyvision and MOSAIQ Radiation Oncology Information System.
  • Experience with HDR, SBRT, and SRS procedures.
  • Adherence to radiation safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP‑accredited program.
  • Graduate from a CAMPEP‑accredited residency program.
  • A  board certification or in the process of obtaining certification.
  • Eligibility for a Texas medical physics license.
  • Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills.
Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for 8 hours, lift 40‑pound blocks to shoulder level, use a keyboard, digitizer, trackball and mouse controls, and align treatment fields while monitoring patients during radiation therapy treatment.
