Position Overview
Cowlitz 911is seeking a skilled and service-oriented Information Services Technician to support and maintain mission-critical public safety technology systems. This position plays a key role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of the agency’s IT infrastructure, dispatch technologies, GIS systems, and communications platforms that support emergency response operations throughout the region.
The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced 24/7 public safety environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide technical support to all Cowlitz 911 staff with priority support for Dispatch operations.
- Support and troubleshoot CAD systems, network systems, servers, PCs, printers, and specialized public safety applications including:
- Flex/Spillman CAD
- ProQA
- Aurelian
- Emergency Call Works (ECW)
- Motorola Elite
- Coordinate with vendors and technical support providers to resolve hardware and software issues.
- Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of:
- Servers and workstations
- Network infrastructure
- WiFi and VOIP systems
- CCTV/NVR systems
- Ethernet cabling
- Specialty systems including Zetron and Stancil Recorder
- Participate in 24/7 on-call technical support rotation.
- Maintain GIS systems, mapping data, and the 911 Master Street Address Guide (MSAG).
- Create and update emergency response plans and custom maps.
- Manage data backups and system recovery processes.
- Monitor and maintain network security protections.
- Provide technical training and assistance to staff and partner agencies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
- 2–3 years of related field experience preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- A+ and Network+ certifications preferred.
- Experience in a 911 communications or public safety environment preferred.
- GIS and mapping software experience preferred.
Experience troubleshooting technical systems and providing user support. - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
