Part‑time role details:

• .9 FTE variable‑shift Emergency RN
• Work three 12‑hour shifts weekly

• A wage range of $52.15–$77.39, dependent on RN experience, education, and the WSNA union contract.

St. John Medical Center is a 177‑bed acute‑care facility with a 37‑bed emergency department and Level III trauma center. It is part of Peace Health, a mission‑driven health system in the Pacific Northwest.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.
• Document patient care in the health‑care record according to established standards.
• Direct and delegate care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
• Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of established hospital policies, procedures, and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention programs.
• May assist with trauma case review in conjunction with the Trauma registrar and/or Trauma Coordinator.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Graduate of an accredited school/college of nursing.
• Two years recent Emergency RN experience or recent completion of emergency nursing training program; related experience may be considered for part of the two years.
• Current Washington RN licensure or current multistate RN license.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
• PALS or ENPC, and TNCC required within one year of hire.
• Demonstrated independent management of cardiac, complex med/surg, pediatric, and trauma patients.

• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs (Required).
• Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family‑centered work environment (Required).
• Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy, and procedures (Required).
• Basic computer skills (Required).

• Lifting: patient handling no greater than 35 lb. without assistive equipment; push/pull up to 45 lb.; hands‑on CPR at least 20 min using 100–125 lb. of force; frequent sitting; bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling; lifting non‑patient up to 20 lb. occasionally and 5 lb. frequently.
• Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

• Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
