DescriptionThe Acute Detox CNA provides direct and indirect medical and non-medical services in compliance with all applicable Washington state codes, policies and procedures of Columbia Wellness. Supports a medically staffed, acute care detox model and contributes to the cohesiveness and success of the unit with direct, respectful communication. Provide information to clients, their families, care providers, other community people and CW staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with intake tasks, including explaining and completing admission consent forms, taking breathalyzer reading, urine drug screen collection, and inspecting, inventorying and locking up patient personal belongings.
- Observe and monitor client behavior based on schedule, treatment plan interventions, and unit needs.
- Ensure physical client safety and security by conducting regular unit and room checks.
- Maintain accurate up to date records.
- Participate and assist clients in areas of treatment plan implementation as directed.
- Assist in meeting client's needs.
- Identify needs not provided by CW staff and report them to the appropriate nurse/provider.
- Provide individual assistance to patients with special mobility, withdrawal or personal care needs, including taking vitals as assigned by the nurse on duty.
- Work independently within scope of practice.
- Maintain current certification in CPR, First Aid and CPI.
- Effective use of technology and software including but not limited to: computers, phones, email, EMR, etc.
- Be helpful, respectful, approachable and team-oriented.
- Assist nursing staff with phone reception and other administrative unit needs.
- Effective time management including but not limited to: planning ahead where possible, be punctual in person and with work performed.
- Build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
- Provide pertinent verbal and written shift reports to interdisciplinary team.
- Be receptive to feedback, willing to learn, and embrace continuous improvement.
- Complete all documentation, reporting, and other paperwork per agency standards.
- Attend and participate in appropriate staff, medical, organizational, and external meetings. Attend collateral meetings with other clinical staff when requested.
- Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Provide a safe and healthy environment which includes maintaining, cleaning, and disposal of equipment and supplies according to policy and procedures.
- Complete daily inventory of patient and staff supplies and place daily order with appropriate purchasing staff to assure a sufficient supply, including but not limited to plastic gloves, breathalyzer mouthpieces, office supplies, and other supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must possess current Washington State CNA certification (in compliance with Chapter 18.88 RCW).
- Minimum of two years nursing assistant experience and prefer one year of psychiatric nursing assistance experience.
- Have an up-to-date knowledge of psychiatric medications, mental illness theories, and current practices.
- Possess knowledge of physical disease, assessment and referral.
Salary: $19.70/hour
