Job Description

As an Emergency Nurse n Medical Center in Longview, Washington, you’ll be part of a collaborative team working together to ensure our patients receive exceptional care. This role involves working three 12‑hour night shifts (1900‑0730) as a .9 FTE Emergency RN in a 37‑bed Emergency Department and Level III trauma center.

Position

Details
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Document patient care in the healthcare record per established standards.
  • Direct and delegate care to other team members based on education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention programs.
  • May assist with trauma case review in conjunction with the trauma registrar and/or trauma coordinator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school/college of nursing.
  • Minimum of 1 year Emergency RN experience or recent completion of emergency nursing training program.
  • Current Washington Registered Nurse licensure or multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS certification required at date of hire.
  • ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required within 6 months of hire.
  • TNCC required within 1 year of hire.
  • Must demonstrate independent management of cardiac, complex med/surg, pediatric, and trauma patients.
Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family‑centered work environment. (Required)
  • Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policies and procedures. (Required)
  • Basic computer skills. (Required)
Working Conditions
  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without assistive equipment (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/pull up to 45 lbs. force (e.g., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands‑on CPR at least 20 minutes using 100-125 lbs. of force; frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting; bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non‑patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to biohazard, bodily fluids, and airborne particles.
  • Must perform tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual
  • Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

  • A wage range of $52.15 – $77.39, dependent on RN experience, education, and WSNA union contract.
