Position: Security Guard 1 (PT - Non-Perm)

At a Glance

The safety and security of the LCC Campus Community is paramount. Our Security Guards patrol the grounds 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Join the Security Team as a part-time Security Guard and help support campus safety. This role is an on‑call substitute guard with no specified number of hours. Hours vary based on need and availability, primarily evenings, weekends and holidays, but not exceeding 19 hours per week or 75 hours per month.

The typical campus operations hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. This position reports to the Director of Security and is categorized as a non‑permanent Security Guard 1 under the State of Washington Class Specification.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Patrol buildings and grounds by foot and/or vehicle.
  • Monitor people and vehicle entry to grounds.
  • Monitor vehicles in parking areas to prevent vandalism or theft.
  • Respond to reports of stolen property, accidents, parking incidents and other disturbances.
  • Enforce security rules and policies, and rules of behavior.
  • Complete daily shift logs and security reports.
  • Receive lost property found on campus; receive complaints, obtain statements, and conduct preliminary investigations.
  • Control access to buildings.
  • Direct visitors and others to parking areas and offices; provide information and assistance to individuals as necessary.
  • Provide safety escorts for visitors, staff and students as requested.
  • Check in on other personnel working alone on the grounds; assist staff and others with personal safety concerns.
  • Promote goodwill with the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to assisting campus visitors, ensuring satisfaction and positive outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid state‑issued driver's license.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous experience performing First Responder duties (fire, EMT, law enforcement, paramedic, etc.).
  • Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • A commitment to providing quality service to students, faculty, staff and other campus visitors.
Residency Requirement

Applicants must currently reside in Washington or Oregon, or be willing to relocate to one of these states.
