TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Hours:

8.0 hours/day; 260 days/year

Pay: $36.04 - $41.57

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

2. Must have a valid journeyman carpenter's training card from a State of Washington Department of Labor and Industries approved apprenticeship training program or verifiable experience that satisfies this requirement in the judgement of the Facilities Manager.

3. Must have a valid Washington State driver's license and be able to operate vehicles with a manual as well as an automatic transmission.

4. Must be able to enter and work in confined spaces, i.e., tunnels, attics, crawl spaces, etc.

5. Must be able to work under limited supervision with a demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks.

6. Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid first aid card.

7. Must possess or be willing to obtain a Washington State Certified Asbestos Workers license.

8. Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with coworkers and other users of the school district facilities.

9. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

10. Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc.

11. Must have good balance and be able to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling.

12. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, walk, grasp, push pull, and lift.

13. Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time and perform repetitive motions such as twisting, lifting, etc.

14. Must possess some experience at reading and interpreting plumbing and mechanical plans, specifications, and technical manuals.

15. Must be able to hear, i.e., perceive the nature of sounds within the normal hearing range with or without correction.

16. Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds.

17. Good health, capable of working at strenuous labor for a period of eight hours daily.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (to include but not limited to):

1. Repair windows, doors/door hardware, stairways, guard rails, portable furniture, and all other areas requiring the services of a carpenter.

2. Construct cabinets and equipment as indicated by work orders.

3. Remodel areas as covered by approved improvement project requests.

4. Perform asbestos repair as they relate to performance of other job responsibilities.

5. Other such job-related duties as may be assigned.

6. This position is expected to perform their duties on-site, at their assigned work location during scheduled work hours. Remote work or telecommuting is not permitted.

WORKING CONDITIONS /

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Must be able to read, with understanding, hazardous chemical warning labels.

2. Must be able to lift, carry, and place 60 pound object on a table four feet off the ground.

3. General conditions of pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, bending, and kneeling.
