POSITION SUMMERY

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, trouble shooting, repair, and modification of electrical systems and related controls throughout the school district. This position supports safe, efficient, and reliable operation of district facilities while ensuring compliance with all applicable electrical codes, regulations, and district standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid Washington State Journeyman Electrician Certificate (01 License) issued by the Department of Labor & Industries.

2. Completion of a recognized and approved electrical apprenticeship program.

3. Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a journeyman electrician in commercial, industrial, institutional, or educational facilities.

4. Valid Washington State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, plans, specifications, and technical manuals.

6.

Demonstrated proficiency using computers, mobile devices, and electrical work order systems.

7. Knowledge of current electrical codes, regulations, and safety procedures.

8.

Experience with fire alarms systems, security systems, access control systems, and building automation controls is preferred.

9.

Experience with Direct Digital Controls (DDC) systems is also preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (to include but not limited to):

1. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution systems and equipment throughout district facilities.

2. Extend, modify, and upgrade existing electrical systems as required for facility improvements and renovations.

3. Diagnose and repair electrical failures in lighting, power, controls, and related building systems.

4. Inspect electrical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, and needed repairs.

5. Service, repair, and maintain electrical, pneumatic, DDC, and related control systems.

6. Maintain emergency power systems and related equipment.

7. Install and maintain fire alarm, security, and access control systems as assigned.

8. Utilize testing and diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve electrical issues.

9. Complete preventive maintenance inspections and maintain accurate records of work performed.

10. Respond to service requests and emergency calls in a timely manner.

11. Work collaboratively with maintenance staff, contractors, school administrators, and district personnel.

12. Maintain compliance with applicable safety standards, district policies, and state and federal regulations.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, installation methods, and maintenance practices. Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and safety regulations. Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control systems. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work independently.

Working Conditions

Exposure to energized electrical equipment, moving mechanical parts, and construction environments. Occasional after-hours, emergency, or on-call work may be required.
