About the Manufacturing Company / The Opportunity

This Millwright role offers hands‑on responsibility maintaining and repairing production equipment in a mill environment, with opportunities to develop fabrication and hydraulic/mechanical troubleshooting skills. The position includes competitive hourly pay and a signing bonus paid over the first year, and is ideal for mechanically skilled candidates looking for a stable, growth‑oriented operations role in the paper and forest products sector.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all safety and HR policies, including strict lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO) and machine isolation procedures.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) and inspect production equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Read, interpret, and work from equipment drawings and blueprints to perform installations and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and hydraulic systems, including bearings, sprockets, chains, and power transmission components.
  • Perform cutting, welding, and steel fabrication to repair or modify mill equipment and structures.
  • Estimate repair scope and time frames, submit work requests, and complete work orders documenting parts used and labor time.
  • Communicate professionally with operators and Planning & Scheduling to coordinate repairs and machine test runs.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas and perform other duties as assigned to keep production running; lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
Must‑Have Skills
  • 2‑4 years of millwright or industrial maintenance experience (unless hired as a trainee).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic concepts with proven troubleshooting ability.
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting equipment drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, bearing replacement, sprocket and chain replacement, and power transmission repairs.
  • Hands‑on welding and steel fabrication skills for field repairs.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and demonstrated commitment to safety compliance.
  • Ability to work independently, plan and manage work, and perform machine test runs after repairs.
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
  • Experience specifically in lumber mill or forest products manufacturing operations.
  • Advanced hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Shaft building and shaft replacement experience, plus precision measurement skills.
  • Certifications such as welding certification, millwright apprenticeship, or related trade credentials.
  • Experience with fabrication tools, welding equipment, and advanced power transmission systems.
