Cowlitz PUD, the local publicly owned power company for Cowlitz County, is looking to hire a Groundman for its Dirt Crew.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A Groundman is an entry‑level union position that assists line workers with building, maintaining, and repairing the district’s electrical system. Duties may include AMI installation, locating, meter reads, and meter disconnects. The role involves physical manual labor, digging, heavy lifting, operating equipment, Class A vehicle driving, and working in rough terrain and inclement weather day or night. A Groundman generally works under the supervision of a heavy equipment operator and must exercise sound decision‑making and good judgment.

This position will primarily work with the heavy‑equipment dirt crew and report to Lead Heavy Equipment Operators, with limited contact with line crews.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and Class A CDL with no air‑brake restrictions.
  • Must obtain within 45 days of employment a tanker endorsement (certifying the legal ability to transport bulk liquids and gases).
  • Experience operating PC, laptop, or tablet.

Must adhere to the company policies and safety requirements.
