Description

Primary Function:
Under the supervision of the Club Director, the Power Hour employee assists members in homework and other educational needs.

Position Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Prepare youth for success by creating an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development outcomes which include:
    • promote and stimulate program participation
    • provide an environment cohesive with learning and focus to assessments
    • monitor school agendas, grades and skill level of members to show improvement
    • provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Develop, implement, and administer programs, services and activities for members to promote education.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure:
    • safety of members
    • quality in programs
    • attractiveness of the Project Learn program
  • Prepare weekly schedule of programs and monthly evaluation reports.
  • May participate in special programs and/or events.
Qualifications
  • Background in Education
  • Degree in Education or related experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with children.
  • Knowledge of youth development.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Valid State Drivers License
  • Must possess excellent leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, youth, parents, local community leaders, schools, and community organizations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills (Microsoft Word required)
  • Required to stand, walk and sit.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
