Job Summary

We're hiring experienced Waste Industry CDL drivers who love life on the road - and value time off it.

Waste Pro has an exciting new opportunity for CDL drivers. Our new travel position provides the opportunity to utilize your waste industry driving experience to support Waste Pro by assisting new and established locations with contract startups and service relief. In this role you will travel within our footprint. This position is open to individuals living anywhere in the USA. Assignments will be up to 4 weeks in length with time off between assignments.

We are growing fast, and we need driven individuals to grow with us.

While providing pro team coverage, the rate of pay is $50 an hour. In addition to pay, Waste Pro covers work‑related travel expenses and provides a daily per diem.

The Waste Pro service footprint includes Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Essential Job Functions
  • Safely drive the assigned truck from any line of business, excluding tractor trailers, following all company safety and productivity principles of operation.
  • Complete the assigned route as instructed by the division to which the driver is assigned.
  • Provide a distinguishably different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of refuse operation to the general public and customers.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude toward the company, customers, and municipal goals.
  • Ensure garbage and/or recyclables are picked up and transferred properly; pickup may require using the back door. Tag improper refuse containers and waste.
  • Perform daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspections set forth by Waste Pro procedures and D.O.T. guidelines. Complete safety lane activity and DVIR daily in accordance with Waste Pro safety lane guidelines. Includes inspection under hood, check under carriage, and check fluid levels and air tires.
  • Maintain a clean truck and wash the exterior weekly. Inspect and clean the truck: lift hood, inspect under the hood, walk around and check under carriage; pump gas, check fluid levels and air tires – use air gauge, dipstick for levels, and gas pump nozzle for gas fill.
  • Perform a variety of manual duties in the clean‑up of scattered refuse; move and empty large trash bins using truck hydraulics.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit required company‑ and regulation‑mandated reports and documents.
  • Be responsible for all persons working on the vehicle during the designated route.
  • Comply with all Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
  • May be required to work during emergency situations.
  • Complete the agreed schedule as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • Must have Waste Industry experience of 5 years or more (preferred).
    • Ability and willingness to operate all equipment at the assigned site (excluding tractor trailers).
    • Must meet the MVR hiring and annual review guidelines.
    • Must have a proven safety record.
    • Must be current in all required training.
    • Must have no performance deficiencies.
    Physical Requirements

    • Physically able to push or pull 50 pounds between 800 and 1,000 times a day.
    • Physically able to lift 50 pounds from the ground to waist height between 800 and 1,000 times a day.
    • Physically able to get up and down from the cab of a commercial motor vehicle between 800 and 1,000 times a day.
    • Physically able to bend at the waist and knees between 800 and 1,000 times a day.
    • Physically able to work 8 to 12 hours in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, and snow).
