ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified 6th Grade Science/Social Studies Teacher at Lorain Preparatory Academy in Lorain, Ohio dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. Lorain Preparatory Academy is an award‑winning public charter school serving EK‑8th grade students with a highly individualized college prep education. About the OpportunityResponsibilities of the Teacher include:
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed throughout the school year
- Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students
- Maintaining accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
- Utilizing research‑based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction
- Managing student behavior in the classroom
- Creating a positive classroom environment for students to learn in
- Utilizing school‑approved curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students
- Implementing school‑wide culture expectations and norms
- Communicating and meeting with families regarding the academic and social‑emotional growth of their child
- Incorporating technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning
- Participating in the planning and implementation of non‑instructional activities, as needed
- Collaborating and communicating effectively with colleagues
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Active and current state of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- High level of comfort working in a growth‑focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage confidential information appropriately
- Can supervise students of various ages in different school settings (playground, cafeteria, etc.)
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
- Experience working within an urban environment
Salary range: $41,500–$51,000. Factors include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
