ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified 6th Grade Science/Social Studies Teacher at Lorain Preparatory Academy in Lorain, Ohio dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. We seek teachers passionate about bringing the curriculum to life for each student and excited to create a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social‑emotional development.

Lorain Preparatory Academy is an award‑winning public charter school serving EK‑8th grade students with a highly individualized college prep education. Celebrating over 15 years of service, the school has a strong learning community led by dedicated, veteran staff. It is part of ACCEL Schools, an established network of public charter schools serving K‑12 students nationwide since 2014.

Responsibilities of the Teacher include:

• Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed throughout the school year
• Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students
• Maintaining accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
• Utilizing research‑based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction
• Managing student behavior in the classroom
• Creating a positive classroom environment for students to learn in
• Utilizing school‑approved curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students
• Implementing school‑wide culture expectations and norms
• Communicating and meeting with families regarding the academic and social‑emotional growth of their child
• Incorporating technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning
• Participating in the planning and implementation of non‑instructional activities, as needed
• Collaborating and communicating effectively with colleagues
• Performing other duties as assigned

• Active and current state of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area
• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
• High level of comfort working in a growth‑focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage confidential information appropriately
• Can supervise students of various ages in different school settings (playground, cafeteria, etc.)
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
• Experience working within an urban environment

Salary range: $41,500–$51,000. Factors include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
