Discount Drug Mart is looking for a Staff Pharmacist for our Lorain, OH location.
We are looking for an individual who is self‑motivated to achieve professional metrics and dedicated to the growth of patient care within the changing dynamics of the pharmacy profession.
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescribed pharmaceuticals, providing information and counseling to customers while maintaining outstanding customer service and safeguarding company assets.

- Practice the profession of pharmacy in a manner consistent with ORC Chapter 4729 and all state and federal laws and regulations.
- Identify current and future customer requirements, establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and providing excellent customer service.
- Utilize alarm code upon entering and leaving pharmacy.
- Complete store operational requirements that include scheduling/assigning employees and following up on work results, along with maintaining store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Also responsible for maintaining staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Interpret, data entry, review, fill, check, dispense, and accept responsibility for prescriptions written by physicians for our patients.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of liquid medicines, ointments, powders, tablets and other medication along with checking prescriptions for correct dosage and drug interactions and incompatibilities. Compounds prescribed medicines and packages and labels them.
- Store and preserve vaccines, serums, and other drugs subject to deterioration.
- Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
- Ensure availability of merchandise and services and maintain inventories.
- Provide immunization services (counseling, selection, and immunizing).
- Provide Medication Therapy Management.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Pharmacists must successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
- Possess a valid pharmacist license with the state of Ohio.
- Immunization Certified through an organization that meets the requirements established in OAC 4729‑5‑36.
- Current certification to perform basic life support procedures and/or the ability to successfully complete a basic life‑support training course certified by American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
