Job Details
• Work on a 29-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit (Unit 2W) in an acute care hospital setting,
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neurological, and telemetry patients,
• Patient ratio is typically 1:5 to 1:6, with 1:6 more common on nights,
• Lines, drains, and devices include wound vacs, PICC lines, and central lines,
• Airway management includes BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and nasal cannulas,
• IV drips include Cardizem, Heparin, and Insulin; typically non-titratable on this unit,
• Experience with insulin drips is required,
• Charting is performed in Epic EHR; nurses are required to read and verify telemetry strips once per shift,
• 1-2 ancillary support staff available per shift depending on census; phlebotomy available for lab draws,
• 12-hour night shifts,
• Every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday scheduling required,
Job Requirements
• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand,
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required,
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,
• Dysrhythmia/EKG exam must be passed on the first day of assignment (2 attempts allowed; study guide provided),
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates,
• Proof of address required for consideration (e.g., driver's license, voter registration card, federal tax return, military Form 2058, or W2),
• Full SSN and date of birth (MM/DD) required for consideration,
• 1 supervisory reference required,
• Nursys license verification required,
• Copy of certifications required,
Additional Information
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness,
• Serve as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and with family members or caregivers,
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including spiritual care, palliative care, and ethics to advocate for patient needs,
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with state practice standards and facility policies,
• Navy blue scrubs required,
• Every-other-holiday coverage is required,
