Shift/Schedule
- Full Time – scheduled for 40 hours per week
- Shift Times – primarily 1st shift; some second shift responsibility as needed
- Rotating weekends (every 4th weekend) and rotating holidays (two per year)

Under general supervision, assist the pharmacist in processing medication orders by selecting, assembling, and preparing medications for inpatient (acute care; hospital) and/or outpatient (ambulatory; retail; home infusion) services. The Certified Pharmacy Technician will have a variety of job responsibilities within the pharmacy that may encompass various activities.
Essential Job Functions- Assist the pharmacist in preparing medications for patients in inpatient and/or outpatient service areas, including accepting new written, faxed, or electronic prescription orders, and accepting verbal prescription orders for non‑controlled drugs as authorized.
- Enter and retrieve information from an electronic health record or prescription processing computer system, ensuring accurate charge and credit functions for patient billing.
- Prepare and affix labels; stock prescription drugs; count and pour drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist; perform non‑sterile drug compounding as defined by USP guidelines.
- Stock automated drug dispensing cabinets, floor stock, and crash carts; transport medications by vehicle to off‑site locations; operate technology used for drug dispensing (robotics).
- Accept verbal refill authorizations for dangerous drugs that are not controlled substances, clarify prescriptions when no professional judgment is needed, and send or receive copies of non‑controlled prescriptions (e.g., prescription transfers). Check associate technician work prior to dispensing.
- Assist in education and precepting of new pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, and participate in performance improvement activities.
- Outpatient: package and sell a prescription drug to a patient or patient representative and assist with insurance claim processing; perform diagnostic laboratory testing as defined in state laws/guidelines.
- Inpatient/Home infusion: perform sterile drug compounding as defined under USP guidelines and infection‑control procedures.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment; perform other functions as outlined in state Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations.
ExCPT certification provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required).
EducationHigh School Diploma or GED (required).
Completion of ASHP/ACPE tech training program – or – pharmacy technician training via Armed Forces/Veterans Affairs – or – a state department approved career tech high school program (preferred).
Work ExperiencePrevious experience working in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion pharmacy (preferred).
