Chemical Analyst

Job Summary

In this role, a Chemical Analyst will work under the direction of the Quality Manager, providing technical leadership in the laboratory and engaging in daily tasks that directly support production and quality system activities.

• Master current chemistry sample preparation and analysis using existing laboratory equipment and procedures.
• Provide technical and procedural refinement for laboratory methods to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Develop analytical chemistry methods for instruments.
• Demonstrate technical leadership to enhance the knowledge base of laboratory technician staff.
• Compile data from plant operations, including laboratory generated chemistry and other test results.
• Assist with management of calibration systems.
• Take an active role in the creation and improvement of quality system documents (procedures, forms, etc.).
• Contribute to preparation for aerospace, customer and other audits.

• Two- or four-year degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a natural science discipline, or one (1) to two (2) years or more of analytical laboratory experience relevant to the above duties.
• One or more years of commercial experience with inorganic chemical analysis methods including sample preparation.
• Method development for chemical analysis instruments is essential.
• Experience with common metallographic methods and grain size measurement is beneficial.
• Familiarity with or exposure to aerospace quality systems such as AS9100 and Nadcap.
