Director of Supply Chain (Government Contracts)

Position SummaryAdvantage Technical is seeking a Director of Supply Chain to lead end-to-end supply chain, procurement, logistics, and inventory management functions supporting U.S. Government contract programs. This leader will ensure full compliance with FAR/DFARS, DCMA standards, and all applicable federal regulations while driving cost efficiency, supplier performance, and operational readiness.
This role is highly strategic and operational, responsible for building scalable supply chain processes, managing complex subcontractor relationships, and ensuring mission-critical delivery performance across government programs.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership- Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with organizational objectives and U.S. Government customer requirements
- Partner closely with Program Management, Contracts, and Operations to ensure supply chain alignment with program delivery and growth initiatives
- Support long-term planning for cost optimization, risk reduction, and supplier diversification
- Lead procurement activities including sourcing, negotiating, and awarding subcontracts in accordance with FAR/DFARS
- Maintain CPSR readiness and support DCMA and DCAA audits
- Ensure procurement policies, procedures, and documentation meet federal contracting requirements
- Develop and maintain supplier qualification, evaluation, and performance management programs
- Manage critical subcontractor relationships to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and on-time delivery
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks across key programs and suppliers
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing supply chain organization (buyers, subcontract administrators, and related staff)
- Establish training programs focused on compliance, efficiency, and process consistency
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
- Apply cradle-to-grave knowledge of FAR/DFARS and commercial contracting requirements, including terms and conditions
- Maintain a disciplined, process-driven approach to compliance and operational execution
- Lead internal training initiatives across Contracts and Supply Chain to strengthen compliance awareness and execution
- Define and track key supply chain KPIs (on-time delivery, supplier quality, cost savings, small business utilization, etc.)
- Provide executive-level reporting on supply chain performance, risks, and opportunities
- Support data-driven decision-making across leadership and program teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 10–15+ years of progressive supply chain and procurement experience
- Minimum 5+ years in leadership roles within supply chain or procurement functions
- Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, CPSR requirements, and U.S. Government contracting environments
- Experience with subcontract management, cost analysis, sourcing, and supplier negotiations
- Familiarity with ERP/SCM systems (SAP, Deltek Costpoint, Oracle, or similar)
- Active Secret clearance or higher strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of federal contracting compliance and audit readiness
- Ability to balance cost, schedule, risk, and performance in complex government programs
- Strong stakeholder management skills across internal leadership, government customers, and subcontractors
- Proven success driving process improvements and cost savings initiatives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership presence with demonstrated ability to build and develop teams
