Summary
This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Forensic Sciences, Field Laboratory. The primary purpose is to plan and carry out a wide variety of safety and security, administrative, fiscal, and evidentiary management activities, policy research, and other duties related to operational support functions.
Responsibilities- Serve as an expert on the development and implementation of major administrative policies and requirements for substantive, mission-oriented programs and operations.
- Coordinate the implementation of new DEA administrative programs and systems within the organization, such as new budgetary procedures, safety standards, and evidence handling systems.
- Manage all safety and security aspects of the laboratory, including evidence storage, documentation, safekeeping, inventory, and disposition.
- Exercise supervisory and/or managerial authorities and provide occupational‑specific technical and administrative direction for at least 25% of the time over subordinate employees performing the organization’s work and functions.
- Assign work to subordinate employees based on organizational priorities, assignment difficulty, and staff experience, training, and abilities to meet organization and customer needs.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.

Applicants applying for the GS‑
13 must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS‑12 grade level. Specialized experience includes paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations. This experience will be credited as qualifying experience.
Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following:
- Managing the storage, documentation, safekeeping, inventorying, and disposition of forensic evidence seized across various divisions and other federal law enforcement agencies.
- Implementing and managing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs for the laboratory within the guidelines mandated by DEA headquarters.
- Ensuring that the work of section/unit employees complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets agency or customer needs.
