Join Fairfax County's Wastewater Management team as an Industrial Electrician II at the award-winning Noman M. Cole Jr. Water Recycling Facility (67 MGD), where your expertise will help ensure the safe and reliable delivery of essential services to the community.
Under the general supervision of the Industrial Electrician Supervisor, and technical guidance of an Industrial Electrician III, the Industrial Electrician II performs skilled technical work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial electrical systems. This includes medium and high voltage (480V to 34,500V) electrical distribution systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, programmable relays, and power monitoring/control equipment.
This position plays a critical role in supporting the uninterrupted operation of Fairfax County's wastewater infrastructure by:
- Designing, installing, maintaining, and repairing complex industrial electrical equipment and systems.
- Working in the field to diagnose and resolve electrical problems on a wide range of rotating, moving, and heavy equipment, including high-voltage distribution centers, motor controllers, pumps, generators, presses, lighting systems, and underground cables.
- Troubleshooting, repairing, and installing VFDs to ensure optimal performance.
- Performing diagnostic work up to the programmable logic controllers (PLC) and the digital control systems (DCS).
- Conducting predictive and preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer's recommendations on electrical equipment.
- Creating work orders and requisitioning equipment, materials, and parts as needed.
- Performing all work in compliance with safety standards and regulations, participating in safety training, and promptly reporting unsafe conditions.
- Subject to 24-hour call back and must, therefore, be able to work emergency overtime.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the following: graduation from high school, or a GED issued by a state department of education or equivalent; successful completion of an approved electrician's apprentice program and four years of experience as an industrial electrician.
