Job Title: Instrumentation Tech I
Location: Lorton, VA (onsite)
Contract Duration: 6 months
Work Hours: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Position Description- Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of instrumentation and electronic equipment at the Noman Cole
- Assists in performing preventative, corrective maintenance and special projects on electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems and components associated with flow, level, and analytical measuring devices. These include doppler and transit time flow meters, magnetic flow meters, differential pressure flow meter, ultrasonic level meters, pressure level meters, ph analyzers, dissolved oxygen analyzers, turbidity analyzers, oxygen analyzers and total hydrocarbon analyzers.
- Assists in troubleshooting and repairing the plant process control systems. Assists in Maintains the continuous emission monitoring system on the incinerator stacks and performs calibration and repair on sensor and alarm systems for oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, explosive gas (methane), and fire detection.
- Utilizes electronic test equipment such as laptop computers, volt/ohm/ amp meters, digital manometers, and a variety of specialty calibrators to verify the accuracy and proper operation of the plant equipment. Position keeps accurate records of calibrations and corrective maintenance.
- Enters the data for EAM work orders and assists in ordering and maintaining inventory of spare parts, and time on Focus.
- Performs work in a safe manner and participates in all safety training.
- Reports on unsafe conditions and engages in safe working practices and complies with Wastewater Management and DPWES safety programs, procedures and guidelines.
- Prevents and mitigates any environmental impact associated with accidents or emergency situations.
- Performs work in permit confined spaces, hazardous areas that require personal protective gear, slippery and wet conditions.
- Ensures lockout/tagout procedures are in place prior to performing tasks.
- Utilizes electronic test equipment such as laptop, computers, volt/ohm/ amp meters, digital manometers, and a variety of specialty calibrators to verify the accuracy and proper operation of the plant equipment.
- Position keeps accurate records of calibrations and corrective maintenance. usage of hand tools
- Ability to distinguish colors.
- Ability to lift, carry, and handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate automated technology to input, access and retrieve information from a laptop or desktop.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and temperatures.
- Frequent exposure to loud noises and rare exposure to airborne substances.
- Must be capable of climbing/crouching, bending and working in confined areas as this position requires the ability to enter permitted confined spaces. Per safety requirements, confined spaces may not be entered by people who weigh 310 lbs. or more.
