Job Overview
A High Voltage Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involves installing or repairing a variety of electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other transmission equipment. The role requires interpreting blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, diagnosing troubles in electrical systems, performing load calculations, and using a variety of hand tools and measuring instruments.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and transmission equipment.
- Work from blueprints, drawings, and layout specifications to determine installation requirements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems in electrical systems and equipment.
- Perform standard load calculations for wiring and equipment.
- Use hand tools, measuring, and testing instruments.
- Maintain safety compliance and adhere to NEC guidelines.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Medium voltage experience and familiarity with electrical control systems.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Ability to read and write at a level necessary for job performance.
- Physical ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
- Computer skills:
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.). - Security clearance: TS/SCI with CIP.
- Certification: NICET Electrical Power Testing Level II and a valid Electrician Journeyman or Master license.
- OSHA 10‑hour and 30‑hour Construction Safety Certification.
- American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level I Infrared Thermography Certification.
- Experience with Square D P24 Switch Gear, VR MV Breakers, Master Pack Breakers, and ASCO transfer switches.
$70.34 per hour.
