Shop Mechanic

J&J Landscape Management – Alexandria, VA

J&J Landscape Management is seeking a highly organized and reliable Shop Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of landscape equipment and trucks. This position plays a critical role in keeping our crews productive by ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, and ready to perform every day.

Our team maintains a large fleet of commercial landscape equipment including zero‑turn mowers, stand‑on mowers, handheld equipment, trailers, and trucks. The ideal candidate takes pride in preventative maintenance, organization, and solving mechanical problems quickly and efficiently.

• Perform preventative maintenance on landscape equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and small engines
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on equipment and trucks
• Maintain sharpening program for mower blades and cutting equipment
• Keep all equipment operating safely and reliably for daily crew deployment
• Maintain organized parts inventory and shop workspace
• Track repairs and maintenance in company systems
• Coordinate equipment readiness for the start of each workday
• Assist crews with equipment troubleshooting when needed
• Identify equipment that should be repaired vs replaced
• Ensure all equipment meets safety standards

• Commercial zero‑turn and stand‑on mowers
• Walk‑behind mowers
• Trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws
• Small engines
• Landscape trucks and trailers
• Snow removal equipment

• 3+ years mechanical experience with commercial equipment preferred
• Small engine repair experience required
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Ability to prioritize repairs to keep crews running
• Valid driver's license required
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
