Epson America Inc. is seeking a talented Senior Applications & Solutions Engineer in the Epson Microdevices (MD) group to provide high customer support and development across Timing Devices, Integrated Circuits, and Sensing Devices product lines serving Epson’s wide array of North American customers in the consumer, industrial, networking and aerospace & defense market segments.

The ideal candidate is a strong team player with passion for growing our business with a strong technical background & customer management skills. This candidate will also work closely with Epson’s Product Marketing, Sales, Reps, and Engineering team in US, Japan and other affiliates worldwide. As the sole senior applications engineer on the Micro Devices team, this position offers a high degree of autonomy, visibility, and influence on product adoption and go-to-market success.

The role reports to the Group Product Manager, Micro Devices.

This position will be based out of our Los Alamitos, CA office with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule.

Your contributions:
1. Application Engineering
  • Plan and execute multiple concurrent projects independently, setting priorities, timelines, and deliverables with minimal direction.
  • Develop complex technical deliverables such as reference designs, application notes, feasibility studies, charts, reports, reports, and demonstration materials.
  • Lead feasibility assessments for customer or market specific application requirements and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage third‑party contractors or external engineering resources as needed to meet technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Assist customers with product questions and device selection, including cross references and configuration guidance.
  • Support customer engineering teams by providing design guidance, troubleshooting support, best practices, technical deep dives, and resolution of quality or failure‑related issues.
  • Provide pre and post sales technical expertise in support of Product Management and Sales, typically delivered through internal enablement or guided customer interactions.
  • Participate in field testing, demonstrations, and customer evaluations as needed.
  • Support general product inquiries including, but not limited to, product part numbers, lifecycle status, environmental requests, and manufacturing location.
  • Manage Part Change Notification (PCN) and End of Life (EOL) activities, including review, tracking, and internal coordination.
  • Manage quality‑related requests such as automotive PPAP, IATF, and ISO certifications.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing Managers to develop technical and marketing collateral such as flyers, newsletters, white papers, videos, infographics, blogs, and application notes.
  • Work closely with Product Marketing and R&D to communicate application findings, influence product improvements, and validate new features or hardware revisions.
2. Lab, Hardware and Software Proficiency
  • Strong knowledge of both analog and digital circuit design, including power electronics, signal integrity, and high‑speed interfaces.
  • Hands‑on experience with standard engineering lab equipment such as network analyzers, mixed‑signal oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, function generators, and programmable power supplies.
  • Ability to design, review, and troubleshoot evaluation boards, test fixtures, and prototype hardware.
