Hospital Medicine Nurse Practitioner Night Shift

Responsibilities

• Participate in the comprehensive care of patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings and provide multi‑disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians, under general supervision of Alpesh Amin, MD.
• Perform functions appropriate to scope of practice, including management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures; be familiar with state statutes for licenses.
• Provide patient care across age groups in Health licensed settings and affiliates, with responsibility for standards of care for the specified patient population and evidence self‑direction and accountability for quality of care.
• Be credentialed to practice and hold privileges through Medical Staff; credentialing and approval of privileges completed prior to first day of work.
• Be accountable to supervising/collaborating physician and receive feedback; population served: adult.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
• Diplomacy and flexibility when interacting with physicians, nurses, other paramedical personnel, administrators, emergency and law enforcement officers.
• Demonstrate appropriate customer service skills.
• Skill to clearly communicate medical information to a broad variety of people, both in person and over the telephone.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prepare clear medical reports, laboratory data and progress notes; maintain a work pace appropriate to workload.
• Possess the skills, knowledge and ability essential to perform assigned duties.
• Understanding of and adherence to privacy, confidentiality and security policies related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive information.
• Multi‑lingual.
• Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
• Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• NP National Board Certification (Beginning February 2018):
  Family/Individual FNP-BC or FNP-C; additional certification:
  Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP‑BC or ACNPC‑AG) with additional pediatric requirements.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Educational training and/or experience to support setting and patient population.

• Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional privileges prior to hire.
