Required Skills & Experience
• 1-4+ years of quality engineering experience within an aerospace, aviation, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting both internal quality systems and supplier quality programs.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar ASQ certification.
• Experience supporting complex assemblies, precision manufacturing, or aerospace components.
• Background working with customer and regulatory quality requirements.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Description
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support a growing aerospace and advanced manufacturing organization. This individual will be responsible for ensuring suppliers, materials, components, and finished products meet all internal quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance expectations. The role will serve as a key liaison between engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to drive quality performance, continuous improvement, and supplier development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee supplier quality activities to ensure raw materials, components, and finished products meet contractual and technical requirements.
- Partner with suppliers, engineering, operations, and new product introduction teams to ensure quality standards are achieved throughout the product lifecycle.
- Establish and communicate supplier quality expectations, performance goals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead supplier audits, assessments, and compliance reviews while ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain supplier scorecards, performance metrics, and supplier development programs.
- Monitor supplier performance on quality, delivery, and process capability metrics and provide regular reporting to leadership.
- Support domestic and international supplier visits as required.
- Define quality control plans, inspection methods, testing requirements, and supporting documentation for assigned programs.
- Monitor manufacturing and inspection processes to ensure quality requirements are consistently met.
- Investigate customer returns, nonconformances, and quality escapes; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Support customer audits, surveys, and quality reviews, serving as a key point of contact for quality-related matters.
- Conduct internal quality audits to ensure compliance with quality management systems and procedures.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to identify and resolve production quality issues while driving preventative actions.
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition decisions.
- Review manufacturing routings and quality checkpoints to ensure appropriate inspection requirements are incorporated.
- Coordinate corrective action activities and verify effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Support ongoing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
