This position serves as an Administrative Assistant 3 within Business Operations at UNM–Los Alamos and provides a broad range of advanced administrative, fiscal, and operational support. The role performs and/or oversees a variety of administrative and planning activities requiring specialized knowledge and independent judgment, including budget administration support, records and database management, inventory coordination, and information-gathering projects. The assistant coordinates and facilitates meetings, program functions, and special events and may assist in training lower‑graded staff or student employees.
The Administrative Assistant 3 will directly support the Business Operations Director and the Human Resources Administrator 2, ensuring efficient workflow and alignment of departmental priorities. The position serves as a key point of contact for students, assisting with cashiering functions and responding to questions related to payments and account processes. It requires strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality, and compliance with institutional policies.
Conditionsof Employment
- Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations if assigned to the Athletics Department.
- Compliance with the University’s influenza vaccination requirement for work in patient care or clinical areas.
- Non‑temporary positions are represented by a labor union.
- Minimum:
High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. - Preferred:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn UNM budget, financial, and reporting systems; experience managing multiple priorities, maintaining organized records or databases, and supporting administrative processes in a fast‑paced environment; strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.

Hourly: $20.56 – $26.11
