Job Title: Operations Support Specialist 1
Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Security Clearance: Active DOE Q Clearance Required
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Position Duration: February 23, 2026 – February 23, 2028
The Operations Support Specialist 1 provides operational and technical support for construction activities and facility operations within a Hazard Category 2, Security Classification 2 radiological environment. This role supports mission deliverables by ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with laboratory policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
The position assists with coordination of construction and field control activities, supports operational programs and documentation, and helps ensure consistent application of engineering and construction practices. Responsibilities include assisting with process improvement, documentation development, operational support, and coordination among project teams, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in supporting construction and operational activities to ensure safe and compliant execution
- Provide operational coordination between facility teams and project stakeholders
- Support development and maintenance of operational procedures, policies, and documentation
- Participate in readiness reviews, activity approval processes, and compliance reporting
- Assist with process improvements, budgeting support, and project coordination
- Provide support for training development, tracking, and operational compliance functions
- Ensure consistent application of construction standards and quality requirements
- Associate degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction, maintenance, or fabrication environments
- Active DOE Q Clearance required
- Experience working in regulated or high-hazard environments preferred
- Professional or safety certifications relevant to DOE or nuclear construction environments
- Prior DOE project or mission support experience
- Experience in work control systems and NQA-1 quality environments
- Qualifications as Electrical Field Work Supervisor, Field Work Supervisor, or Responsible Line Manager
This position focuses on operational support functions and may require varying levels of technical knowledge depending on facility assignments. Responsibilities may include compliance support, documentation development, training coordination, readiness review participation, and administrative operational support.
