What You Will Do
This position will be filled at a Maintenance Support Specialist 2/3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Work Control is a multidisciplinary group, providing deployed support to all Facility Operations Directorates (FODs) for maintenance planning, scheduling, and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) support. The MSS-Work Control group uses Integrated Work Management to plan, schedule, and perform work in a safe and secure manner.
The Maintenance Support Specialist (MSS) reports to the MSS-WC Work Management Center (WMC) Team Leader and provides necessary support to develop, monitor, and validate the accuracy and auditing of performance data, reports, and other statistical information, and supports the development and implementation of Standardized Preventative Maintenance plans and routines in line with company policy, procedures, engineering guidelines and maintenance strategy. This position also develops and maintains maintenance policies, processes, procedures and provides training in support of the conduct of maintenance program.
Lastly, this position will assist with the coordination and maintenance of the maintenance work execution schedule.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide assistance in interpreting governmental regulations and Laboratory policies impacting the maintenance program to ensure compliance.
- Develop and monitor auditing performance data, reports, and other statistical information to ensure compliance with safety, quality, budget and schedule.
- Maintain databases and other programs as needed for use in development of performance measurements and other status reports.
- Assist in implementing related documentation systems and ensure compliance with all applicable document control and records management activities and security/compliance implications.
- Help evaluate processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements.
- Assist in coordinating, updating, and overall support in maintaining the maintenance work execution schedule.
- Understand and adhere to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to maintenance and quality assurance programs.
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level this position:
- Interprets governmental regulations and Laboratory policies impacting the maintenance program to ensure compliance.
- Develops, monitors and validates accuracy, and auditing performance data, reports, and other statistical information to ensure compliance with safety, quality, budget and schedule.
- Maintains database and other programs as required for use in development of performance measurements and other status reports.
- Evaluates and recommends processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements.
- Provides issues management support, reviews and compiles data, and develops final management assessments and/or recommendations.
- Performs performing periodic reviews and assessments to ensure maintenance programs are implemented.
- Implements related documentation systems and ensures compliance with all applicable document control and records management activities and security/compliance implications.
- May conduct training for facility maintenance personnel on maintenance programs and evaluate and critique performance.
- May provide formal and informal training in the use of various maintenance program processes and evaluate and critique performance.
- May serve as liaison between the Laboratory and various governmental agencies.
Job Requirements:
Strategic Communication:
Ability to conceptualize and professionally communicate elements of facility maintenance processes supporting the maintenance programs stakeholders, including technical and non-technical personnel, in both verbal and written formats. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Business Processes & Systems:Full understanding of and experience with policy and strategy performance assurance, metrics, including policy and procedure development, implementation, and enforcement. Working knowledge of and experience with document control and records management. Working knowledge of business and maintenance program systems, quality assurance policies, practices, and procedures, and the legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting maintenance management.
TechnicalCompetency:
Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility maintenance and performance assurance. Skill to prepare and present reports.
