Nuclear Construction Operations Specialist - Radiological Facilities (DOE/LANL)

Company: COMPA Industries Location: Los Alamos, NM | 100% Onsite (TA-55 / PF-4)
Compensation: $31-$36/hr Schedule: 4/12s (aligned with subcontractor schedule; subject to adjustment)
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance (Q not required to start)

About the Role

COMPA Industries is seeking a Nuclear Construction Operations Specialist to support mission-critical construction activities at Los Alamos National Laboratory's TA-55 PF-4 - a Hazard Category 2, Security Classification 2 radiological facility. In this role, you'll provide direct oversight and coordination support for construction and field controls activities, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with Laboratory policies and DOE regulatory requirements.

This is a hands‑on, field‑facing role that sits at the intersection of construction oversight, quality assurance, and operational compliance. If you have a background managing construction in a regulated nuclear or radiological environment and want to contribute directly to the DOE mission, this role was built for you.

Mandatory Requirement - Must Meet to Be Considered
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction activities in a DOE or NRC nuclear/radiological facility

Applicants without this specific background will not be considered regardless of other qualifications.

What You'll Do
  • Oversee mission deliverables for construction activities and operations, ensuring quality, accuracy, efficiency, and on‑schedule completion
  • Ensure all work is performed safely within a Hazard Category 2, Security Classification 2 radiological facility
  • Maintain compliance with LANL policies and applicable DOE/NRC regulatory requirements
  • Organize and coordinate construction and field controls activities across multiple project groups
  • Provide oversight of workers and subcontractors as assigned
  • Promote consistent application of construction engineering standards and practices
  • Ensure documentation is complete and accurate; develop documentation when gaps are identified
  • Support quality control and assurance efforts, including work aligned with NQA-1 where applicable
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and regulatory compliance
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, customers, and construction teams
What You Bring

Required:

  • Experience managing construction activities in a DOE or NRC nuclear/radiological facility
  • 5+ years of experience in construction, maintenance, or fabrication
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
  • Valid driver's license (driving required)
  • Willingness to work onsite at TA-55 PF-4 in a secure environment on a 4/12 schedule with on‑call/OT support as needed

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Construction Field Work Supervisor, Fabrication Supervisor, or Responsible (Line) Manager in a work control setting
  • Professional and safety certifications relevant to construction within the DOE or nuclear complex
  • Experience working within work control processes aligned to quality control and assurance (NQA-1)
  • Prior direct experience supporting the DOE mission

Education:

  • Associate's Degree in a relevant field plus 2 years of relevant experience, OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 5+ years in construction, maintenance, or fabrication
