Designer Drafter

Summary

Produces and details routine drawings/layouts of basic components, facilities and/or systems. Generates and/or modifies two-dimensional drawings based on information from others. Develops basic computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and design models under the direction of a senior designer.

Position typically requires a high school diploma and a minimum one-to-two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Drafting tools, specifically CAD, and an interest in moving in a BIM direction if available (Building Integrated Model).

Short-term travel is covered but not full per diem or relocation. 100% onsite.

Bulk of work is mechanical, with some electrical and fire suppression.

Initially they will be mentored and shadow until they get up to speed; currently have 3 teams so trying to fill 3rd team.

Prefer more experience but know these folks are hard to come by; opened both level 1 and 2 positions.

Design reviews preconstruction, make sure designs are ready to execute, take native files and do material takeoffs, help procurement order correct material; 2 phase review cycle – initial and final, supply craft execution with shop drawings (set drawings with dimensions to use as guides) so they can better order equipment and install.
