Compa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Construction Engineer 1 position at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM.
- Pay: $40/hr - $47/hr
- Location: 100% Onsite – Los Alamos, NM (TA-55)
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required
- Work Schedule: 4/10s preferred; flexible with other shifts
- Clearance: Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance

Mandatory Experience Requirement
Applicants must meet all three requirements below or will not be considered:
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
- Bachelor s Degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent field experience
- Must be available for 100% onsite work (no hybrid or remote options)
Impact
As a Construction Engineer 1, you ll play an essential supporting role in LANL s infrastructure and nuclear facility installation projects. You ll work directly with senior engineers to execute construction oversight and ensure alignment with technical and safety requirements supporting national security missions.
- Support field construction activities through inspections, documentation, and reporting
- Apply standard engineering techniques and established processes to project execution
- Verify work conforms with approved drawings, standards, and specifications
- Support problem-solving efforts with field teams and design engineers
- Participate in safety and quality meetings; assist with material verification and status tracking
- Understanding of basic engineering and construction principles
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills
- Exposure to DOE or DOD projects
- Knowledge of codes and standards such as ASME, NEC, and IBC
- Experience in construction, facility systems, or mechanical/electrical work
- Required: Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Desired: 1–2 years of practical engineering or construction experience
