ROLE SUMMARYProvide expert civil/structural engineering design and analysis for plutonium processing facilities. Lead design package development, perform safety-related and non-safety-related structural evaluations, and provide rapid technical response for facility modifications and operational support. Work directly with nuclear-grade concrete and steel structures under strict DOE/NNSA quality assurance requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- Minimum 9 years of practical civil/structural engineering experience
- Expert knowledge of DOE/NNSA codes and standards (ASCE 4/7/43, ASME NQA-1, ACI 349, AISC 360/N690, IBC, IEBC)
- Proven experience with safety-related structural systems design and analysis
- Strong understanding of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B or equivalent quality assurance programs
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (ANSYS, SAP
2000, STAAD.Pro, GT STRUDL, or similar) and CAD software (AutoCAD, Micro Station) - U.S. Citizenship (required for DOE Q clearance)
- Ability to participate in Human Reliability Program (HRP)
- Advanced engineering degree (M.S. Structural Engineering or M.S. Civil Engineering)
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- Previous DOE Q or L clearance
- Experience with plutonium facilities, special nuclear material handling, or nuclear weapons complex
- Familiarity with seismic qualification of structures and equipment, glovebox structural support systems, or criticality safety containment structures
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software (ANSYS, ABAQUS, RISA-3D)
- Background in foundation design for nuclear facilities or soil-structure interaction analysis
- Knowledge of DOE Standard 1020 and seismic design for nuclear facilities
- Design and analyze civil/structural systems for Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures
- Develop engineering calculations, specifications, and design drawings
- Provide construction and project support for facility modifications
- Conduct system integration activities across multiple engineering disciplines
- Perform rapid response technical evaluations for operational issues
- Interface with regulatory bodies and ensure code compliance
- Mentor and provide technical direction to engineering staff
