What You Will Do
The Materials Synthesis and Integrated Devices Group (MPA-11) is seeking post-bac candidates to perform engineering, fabrication, and testing of mechanical and electrochemical systems, including components and subsystems for fuel cells, electrolyzers, batteries, and other energy technologies. The position will provide opportunities to learn about mechanical and electrochemical systems and provide exposure to broader research opportunities in the national laboratories.
Job activities will include one or more of the following:
- Fabrication and testing of fuel cells, electrolyzers, and batteries
- Design, fabrication, and testing of components and parts
- Microfabrication and thin film deposition
- Programming in Python for automation of tasks and data analysis
- CAD design of custom hardware
Job Requirements
Candidates must have a strong background in one or more of the following areas:
- Mechanical engineering
- Electrical engineering
- Chemical engineering
Candidates must also have:
- Experience working in a laboratory in a research and development environment
- Ability to conduct basic design of systems and mechanical components
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desired:
- Electrochemical device fabrication and testing
- Materials characterization techniques
- Electronics and typical laboratory test instruments
- Must have earned a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution (or international equivalent) within the last 3 years in an appropriate field.
- Must have graduated with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Work Location:
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

No Clearance:
Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test:
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer, regardless of state law.
