** What You Will Do*
* ** This position will be filled at either the Nuclear Facilities Engineer 1 or Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Position will be filled as either a field engineer, project engineer, or systems engineer depending on candidate qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.*
* The Plutonium Infrastructure Engineering Division (PIE-DO) of Los Alamos National Laboratory develops, maintains, and applies a diverse set of engineering capabilities to provide innovative engineering solutions in support of the Laboratory's Plutonium Facility. PIE-DO is responsible for implementing the Conduct of Engineering (COE) program on Division projects. The program include processes, standards, training, and qualifications that are generally applicable throughout the life cycle of a facility.
They exist to effectively manage risks and satisfy customer requirements in a safe, secure, cost effective, and environmentally responsible manner. The selected candidate will support our Install team.
** Nuclear Facilities Engineer 1 $ 96,600-$158,000*
* Nuclear Facilities Engineer 1 is responsible for ensuring that the technical aspects of construction and maintenance projects are executed in full conformance with the Approved Project Documents by monitoring facility maintenance and construction activities. This is accomplished by providing input during scoping, design, execution, and project closeout to ensure baseline documents are accurate, design documents are adhered to, and as-built configurations are verified.
Nuclear facility engineers expedite project execution by identifying issues, coordinating technical solutions, and providing timely guidance to the constructor through approved procedures. The level 1 Nuclear Facilities Engineer will require a basic understanding of field engineering principles and have an aptitude to apply these principles throughout the execution of the job. The selected candidate will support our Install Engineering team.
** Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2 $ 106,400-$176,000*
* In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, the level 2 Nuclear Facilities Engineer will require a demonstrated understanding of Engineering principles and have applied these principles on the job.

Job Requirements:

* + Ability to Support field execution with technical guidance for codes, standards, specifications, and design criteria.
+ Experience Managing technical requirements for construction, including coordinating designer-constructor interfaces, design changes, submittal reviews, inspection documentation, and request for information (RFI), field change requests (FCR), commissioning, and turnover processes.
+ Aptitude for conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standards. Work with Ability to coordinate and manage externally executed design work, including administration and oversight of design contracts as required.
+ Aptitude in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor.

* ** In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:*
* + Awareness of national and industry codes and standards such as NEC, IBC, ASME, etc.
+ Demonstrated expertise in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructability.
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.

Demonstrated proficiency in conducting field verification of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standards.

Demonstrated proficiency in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor.
** Education/Experience at lower level:
** Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 2 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired. Advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired.
