Overview
The Plutonium Facilities Engineering Division (PFE-DO) and Confinement Ventilation Systems (PFE-CV) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) are seeking an Electrical Engineer. The position will be filled at Nuclear Facilities Engineer 3 or 4, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional responsibilities may be assigned if hired at the higher level. This role supports electrical safety, power quality, power monitoring, and critical power reliability within and around the plutonium facility, and involves leading and collaborating on projects related to facility modifications, new equipment installations, and infrastructure development.
WhatYou Will Do
This role may involve conducting and reviewing complex engineering studies such as short-circuit analysis, device coordination, equipment sizing, fault current calculations, exterior lighting design, and arc flash assessments for both medium- and low-voltage systems. You may support demolition, installation, upgrade, and repair activities, and have the opportunity to qualify as a Cognizant System Engineer (CSE) for one or more Vital Safety Systems (VSS) supporting LANL nuclear facilities.
The selected candidate will lead and collaborate on projects to ensure that all systems meet high standards of performance, safety, and compliance. The candidate must align work with DOE Orders and Standards, the Nuclear Safety Management Rule, American Nuclear Society Standards, national codes, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The Nuclear Facilities Engineer 3 salary range is $128,000 - $215,900;
Nuclear Facilities Engineer 4 salary range is $153,600 - $266,500.
