Position: User Calibration Program Lead (Science/Engineering Project Leader 2/3)
** What You Will Do*
* ** This position will be filled at either the Science/Engineering Project Leader 2 or Science Engineering Project Leader 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate.  Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.*
* Detonator Production (DP) Division is the premier Production Agency (PA) assigned to produce WR (War Reserve) detonators for the Nation's nuclear stockpile security mission. The Division is part of LANL's Weapons Production Directorate. DP is comprised of a team of motivated, highly skilled technical and operational support staff working in an integrated format. The organization is centered on high-rigor manufacturing operations to produce precision, safe and reliable WR products.

DP partners closely with customers and stakeholders such as NNSA (National Nuclear Security Administration), Design Agencies (LANL, Sandia, and Livermore), and LANL program management orgs to deliver on challenging National security objectives. DP upholds vigorous teamwork, personal integrity, respectful workplace, and continuous improvement in operations, technical excellence, safety and security.

** Science/Engineering Project Leader 2 ($106,400 - $176,000)*
* Detonator Production (DP) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated candidate to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive User Performed Calibration (UPC) Program for programmatic equipment. This key leadership role will be responsible for establishing the strategic vision, execution plans, and long-term sustainment of the UPC program across the organization.

The selected candidate will lead all phases of program development, including planning, process development, implementation, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include designing and executing a technologist qualification and certification program, developing implementation strategies and training plans, and coordinating with external vendors and contractors to establish and maintain qualification requirements.

In addition, the successful candidate will serve as the program owner for all UPC procedures, standards, and implementation plans. This role will also drive the evaluation and integration of new inspection techniques, calibration methodologies, and emerging technologies to support evolving customer and production needs.

The candidate will collaborate extensively across the Detonator Production enterprise, working closely with production personnel, quality assurance organizations, engineering and management teams, and external/internal customers to ensure program success, operational excellence, and compliance with quality and mission requirements.

** Science/Engineering Project Leader 3 ($128,000 - $215,900)*
* In addition to what was outlined at level 2, the candidate will also develop and lead strategic initiatives that enhance Detonator Production metrology capabilities, operational efficiency, and long-term organizational objectives. This includes identifying emerging technologies, implementing advanced measurement solutions, and influencing strategic direction for calibration and precision inspection systems. The successful candidate will exercise a high degree of technical judgment and independent decision-making while collaborating across engineering, production, quality assurance, management, and customer organizations to address complex technical challenges and support enterprise goals.
