Position: Nuclear Facilities Electrical Engineer 2/3
** What You Will Do*
* Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a Low Voltage Electrical Systems Engineer to join the Engineering Services Division, supporting the Science Project Delivery team (ES-SPD). You will be working as part of a design team assessing, maintaining, and upgrading facility systems cific tasks will include developing contract documents consisting of drawings, specifications, calculations and special inspections in order to maintain the technical baseline for new and existing facility systems throughout the facility lifecycle.

This will require interfacing and coordinating with all stakeholders including other engineering disciplines, equipment manufacturers and customers during design and construction. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working close to the field, collaborating with operations and maintenance teams, and applying sound engineering judgment to real-world infrastructure challenges-all in support of a national mission.

This position will be filled at either the Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2/3 level, depending on the skills and experience of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the

candidate is hired at the higher level.

** Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2 ($106,400 - $176,000)*
* + Perform power system studies (short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash)

+ Develop electrical design packages under guidance from senior engineers

+ Apply LANL's Conduct of Engineering (COE) principles in daily work

** Nuclear Facilities Engineer 3 ($128,000 - $215,900)*
* + Serve as an Electrical Safety Officer (ESO) for assigned systems or facilities

+ Lead complex technical problem solving and system improvements

+ Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process and program enhancements

+ Provide technical leadership for electrical safety, design, and system performance

** What You Need*
* ** Minimum

Job Requirements:

*
* + Demonstrated knowledge of basic engineering principles

+ Design experience in nuclear, accelerator or industrial facility operations

+ Demonstrated ability to prepare calculations, applications of engineering methods, and application of technology aided engineering tools to facility and operations-based engineering problems

+

Working experience in power system engineering, including fault current analysis, voltage drop calculations, protection coordination studies, incident energy studies, and equipment sizing

+ Experience in leading projects, interfacing with customers, resolving questions and issues with project team and customers, and delivering construction documents on time

+ Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both written and verbally

Additional requirements at Nuclear Facilities Engineer 3:

+ Expert knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods, and application of technology aided engineering tools to conventional and non-conventional facility and operations-based engineering problems

+ Advanced knowledge of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline

** Education/Experience at Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2:
** Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired. Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desirable.
