** What You Will Do*
* Join our team! The Nuclear Materials and TRU Waste Shipping (NPI-7) group is seeking qualified candidates for a Science/Engineering Program Manager 4/5 to support our mission objectives. The candidate will support integrated nuclear materials management, packaging, transportation, and disposition activities across the DOE/NNSA nuclear security enterprise.
The selected candidate will integrate across TA-55 programmatic operations and associated nuclear materials and waste management organizations to ensure the safe, secure, efficient, and compliant movement of fissile, radioactive, and hazardous materials from point of origin through final disposition. This includes coordination across PF-4 nuclear materials operations and TRU waste generator sites, as well as characterization, packaging, and DOE/NNSA program office interfaces.
Within this scope, NPI-7 supports the TA-55 programmatic mission by enabling the safe and compliant shipment and management of all fissile, radioactive, and hazardous materials generated or stored across key facilities, including the TA-55 Plutonium Facility (PF-4), the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research (CMR) building, the TA-50 Radioactive Liquid Waste Treatment Facility (RLWTF), the Radiological Laboratory Utility Office Building (RLUOB), Radioassay and Nondestructive Testing (RANT), and the Transuranic Waste Facility (TWF).
The role also supports modernization of packaging systems, nuclear material accountability interfaces, and TRU waste certification and transportation infrastructure across the DOE complex to improve reliability, efficiency, and long-term mission sustainability.
This position will require non-normal business hours and 24/7 coverage; therefore, it may require working a rotating shift schedule that includes nights and weekends.
