** What You Will Do*
* Are you a talented and driven electrical engineer looking to apply your expertise in support of nuclear, accelerator or non-nuclear facilities? Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), a premier national security science laboratory, is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Services (ES) Division, primarily focused on non-nuclear facilities.
In this pivotal role, you will:
+ Develop electrical details, design/analysis calculations, specifications, etc. that incorporate the applicable design requirements for facility projects.
+ Contribute to the implementation of the Conduct of Engineering (COE) program, ensuring systems, structures, and components are properly modified and installed across our 38-square-mile campus.
+ Support the Laboratory's vital scientific and national security mission by leveraging your electrical engineering expertise.
+ Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design, analyze, and troubleshoot electrical systems for facilities.
+ Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, security, and quality standards.
+ Support Breaker Maintenance team by assisting electricians to trouble shoot issues found on equipment during maintenance on rotating evening shifts.
+ Perform Power System Engineering Studies including Short Circuit, Device Coordination, Equipment Sizing, and Arc Flash for both medium and low voltage equipment.
As part of our design agency serving the Engineering Services Utilities Project Delivery (ES-UPD) Division, you will function as a vital member of multiple design teams, shaping LANL's facilities and infrastructure to serve the needs of our growing and changing Laboratory. In this pivotal role, you will provide engineering consulting services across all project phases, including scoping, design, construction, commissioning, and
operations.

This position will be filled at Engineer 1/Engineer 2 level depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
** Electrical Engineer Level 1 ($96,600 - $158,000)*

* In addition to what was outlined at the level 1 position, as an Electrical Engineer 2 you will have the opportunity to:

+ Foster relationships with project stakeholders and customers as a representative of Engineering Services.
+ Facilitate technical growth of the electrical design team.
** What You Need*
* ** Minimum
Job Requirements:
*
* + Ability to prepare calculations, apply engineering methods, and apply technology aided engineering tools to facility and operations-based engineering challenges.
+ Ability to support timely and collaborative construction execution. This includes timely review of submittals, requests for information (RFIs), design changes, non-conformance issues, validation of commissioning documentation and produce accurate as-built documents.
+ Basic knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, etc.).
+
Working experience in power system engineering, including fault current analysis, voltage drop calculations, protection coordination studies, incident energy studies and equipment sizing.
** In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:*
* + Demonstrated design experience in commercial and/or government sectors.
+ Demonstrated experience in the development of engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and test and inspection plans (TIPs).
+ Demonstrated experience in the scoping of complex projects to produce an estimate of engineering costs for both design and construction activities.
