Position: Campus Planner 2/3
** What You Will Do*
* ** This position will be filled at either the Planner 2/3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate.  Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.*
* ** The Campus Master Planning team, in the Workplace Experience Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), is seeking highly talented, motivated, and customer-oriented applicants for a Planner 2/3 position. The successful candidate will have a broad-based skill set that includes extensive knowledge and experience with site, facility, and infrastructure planning. The Campus Master Planning team consults with Laboratory management and staff, National Nuclear Security Administration representatives, Laboratory program personnel, business operations, engineers, environment/safety groups, security professionals and subcontractors to determine facility and infrastructure needs and translate those needs and requirements into strategic, long-range, and site-specific master plans.

This position will be responsible for identifying needs, coordinating requirements, and planning for infrastructure projects, including facilities, utilities, and transportation. Additional site planning job duties may be assigned.*
* ** Planner 2 ($80,400 - $127,900)*
* ** Job Duties include, but are not limited to:*

** Perform strategic analyses of program needs and siting locations to help develop recommendations and plans.*
* +  
** Participate in the planning and development of long-range plans to meet future institutional space needs.*
* +  
** Assist in the planning and development of Laboratory infrastructure and site planning activities and projects, including comprehensive site planning, master planning, and specific project site planning.*

** Initiate and may deliver concise and accurate oral and written presentations to internal and external customers on project status, changes, and alternative approaches, technical reports and master planning studies.*
* +  
** Communicate with stakeholders to provide feedback on proposed development plans. Address any issues or concerns and work towards resolution.*
* +  
** Collaborate with various organizations to ensure that plans align with institutional standards and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.*
* +  
** Provide guidance and interpretation of Laboratory policies and programs concerning infrastructure and site planning.*
* +  
** Research, assemble, and/or evaluate information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes affecting infrastructure and site planning policies or programs; recommend sound, practical solutions to complex issues.*
* +  
** Understand and adhere to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to infrastructure and site planning.*
* +  
** Ensure all results, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.*
* ** Planner 3 ($96,600 - $158,000)*
* ** In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level the position will be expected to mentor staff, take lead roles in individual site planning activities, long-range development plans, and presentations of solutions for complex issues. At this level the position will also have increased visibility with internal and external stakeholders and be asked to develop approaches to resolve infrastructure planning conflicts.*

Skill to conceptualize and communicate major elements of infrastructure and site planning to both technical and non-technical personnel. Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting infrastructure and site planning programs and projects.*
* ** Knowledge & Expertise:*
* ** Knowledge of legal requirements affecting infrastructure and site planning programs and projects. Interpersonal, written and verbal skills to conceptualize and communicate major elements of infrastructure and site planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.*
* ** Communication:*
* ** Ability to maintain effective working relationships with different levels of management, employees, and consultants. Demonstrated experience participating on interdisciplinary problem-solving teams.*
